KTM 300 EXC

2027 · The legendary enduro.

The E3 benchmark: 293 cc of injected two-stroke, PDS rear end and a six-speed box in a bike that weighs what a 250 four-stroke wishes it did. Standard, Hardenduro or Six Days — pick the spec below. Available through NTG for teams and resellers, EU-wide.

01.Before the trail

Tool-free clickers, a fail-proof filter and a tank you can see into — the enduro that is ready before you are.

4 features
2027 KTM 300 EXC — Switchgear

Thumb, not toolbox

Switchgear

New across the 2027 Enduro range: a slimmer start/stop switch on the right, and on the left the optional Map Select switch. Map 1 is linear and predictable for slick roots and mud; Map 2 is sharper when the grip is there. Chosen with a thumb, on the move.

2027 KTM 300 EXC — Tool-free adjustability

Set it on the stand

Tool-free adjustability

PDS at the rear with hand-adjustable high- and low-speed compression; fork clickers on the shoe and the top cap, also by hand. A change takes the time it takes to twist them — between special tests, not between weekends.

2027 KTM 300 EXC — Air filter box

Breathe, don't drink

Air filter box

Inlet ducts placed for maximum airflow and minimum water; an enduro-specific splash guard under the airbox stops the rear wheel feeding it mud. The Twin Air filter sits on a fail-proof mount — in and out without tools, at the side of the trail.

2027 KTM 300 EXC — Transparent fuel tank

Built like a tank

Transparent fuel tank

Nine litres of XPE polythene you can read at a glance, raced from the GNCC to the hardest FIM hard enduros. A one-piece pump and filter unit manages the supply, and the filter is reachable for a quick service.

  • 9 lcapacity

02.Power that pulls

293 cc of injected two-stroke: the most torque per kilo in E3, and the engine hard enduro is won on.

5 features
2027 KTM 300 EXC — 300 cc engine with throttle body injection

The E3 benchmark

300 cc, injected

Maximum power and torque at the least possible weight — the reason the 300 EXC is the default choice in E3 and on hard enduro podiums everywhere. Keihin 39 mm throttle body injection reads the conditions constantly, so the mixture is right at sea level and on the pass; separate oil injection ends the premix ritual. Six speeds, DDS clutch with Brembo hydraulics.

  • 293.2cm³
  • 6-speed
  • TBIKeihin 39 mm
2027 KTM 300 EXC — Exhaust

Clearance, not scrape marks

Exhaust

The compact engine lets the header pipe tuck higher: more clearance over roots, ruts and rock steps, and less chance of a dent ending the day. The silencer is lightweight aluminium.

2027 KTM 300 EXC — Cooling

Fan fitted

Cooling

A radiator fan is standard across the EXC and EXC-F range. First-gear climbs and the queue at a bottleneck no longer cook the engine.

2027 KTM 300 EXC — Offroad Control Unit

Lift the seat, read the lights

Offroad Control Unit

The OCU replaces every fuse and relay. Outputs are switched by the ECU and the regulator; an over-current shuts down the one circuit affected, and a red or green LED tells you which. Diagnosing an electrical fault on the trail means lifting the seat — not carrying spare fuses.

2027 KTM 300 EXC — Electric start

Press, go

Electric start

A 2 Ah lithium-ion battery and a proven starter: reliable starts, time after time. The harness puts most of the electrics under the seat, where you can reach them.

  • 2 AhLi-ion

03.The chassis

A frame tuned for feedback, PDS at the rear and a closed-cartridge fork — the enduro chassis that has been winning for decades.

5 features
2027 KTM 300 EXC — Frame

Flex where it helps

Frame

Matt black powder-coated 25CrMo4 steel, engineered for longitudinal rigidity: feedback, energy absorption and stability at speed. Rotating masses repositioned, a forged steering-head connection, slim footrest mounts that don't hook — and a forged one-piece side stand for when the ride is over.

2027 KTM 300 EXC — Subframe

Bends, doesn't break

Subframe

Two-part polyamide and reinforced aluminium with its rigidity engineered by simulation. It carries the electronics without extra brackets or holders, and in a crash it flexes rather than snaps.

2027 KTM 300 EXC — WP XACT closed-cartridge fork

Closed cartridge, open hands

WP XACT closed-cartridge fork

48 mm with optimised oil flow for fast, consistent damping; protection rings keep dirt out of the seals. Compression and rebound adjusted by hand, no tools.

  • Ø 48 mm
  • 300 mmtravel
2027 KTM 300 EXC — WP XPLOR PDS shock

No linkage to break

WP XPLOR PDS shock

The PDS concept: no linkage, better anti-squat, more ground clearance and the least maintenance of any race rear end. Hand-adjustable high- and low-speed compression, rebound and preload.

  • 310 mmtravel
2027 KTM 300 EXC — Wheels and tyres

Grip for all conditions

Wheels & tyres

High-strength GIANT alloy rims on CNC-machined hubs with aluminium nipples, wrapped in Maxxis MaxxEnduro rubber: traction in everything from wet roots to dry hardpack.

04.Into the night

An LED that lights the trail, a front end that stays calm at speed, and a body built for standing up.

3 features
2027 KTM 300 EXC — LED headlight

Serious illumination

LED headlight

An LED unit in a light mask that also shields the triple clamp from roost. No rubber straps, so it stays where it was fitted. Riding in the dark stops being a guess.

2027 KTM 300 EXC — Stability

Rock-solid at speed

Stability

A repositioned, forged steering-head connection and CNC-milled aluminium triple clamps: tuned stem stiffness, perfectly aligned fork tubes, precise clamp geometry. Smooth fork action in the tight stuff and no headshake in the flat-out tests.

2027 KTM 300 EXC — Ergonomics

Stand up, lock in

Ergonomics

A rider triangle built for standing: more knee contact, grip surfaces all round, a flat seat with a high-grip cover, and plastics shaped to throw mud off rather than carry it. The polyamide subframe adds feel at the rear.

  • 963 mmseat height
  • 347 mmground clearance

01.Built to be hit

The standard 300 EXC underneath; on top, the parts hard enduro breaks first — fitted at the factory.

3 features
2027 KTM 300 EXC Hardenduro — Hardenduro protection package

Armour first

Hardenduro protection package

Radiator fan, skid plate, frame protection set, front and rear brake disc guards, rear brake safety wire, clutch slave cylinder guard. Black-anodised engine hangers and an orange oil plug finish the job. The parts that get hit are the parts that are covered.

2027 KTM 300 EXC Hardenduro — 2-stroke power & TBI

Torque where it counts

2-stroke power & TBI

Strong low-end torque and instant response for the slow, technical stuff where traction and precision decide. Throttle body injection and separate oil injection keep the mixture right across altitude and temperature, so the workload stays with the terrain, not the bike. Light enough to be muscled through the tight sections without the fatigue.

  • 293.2cm³
  • TBIKeihin 39 mm
  • 6-speed
2027 KTM 300 EXC Hardenduro — Race-ready drivetrain

Drive under load

Race-ready drivetrain

Built for consistent drive in the high-load, low-speed situations hard enduro is made of. A Supersprox stealth rear sprocket for wear resistance, plus Hardenduro-specific clutch slave cylinder protection and the orange oil plug.

02.Chassis for the rocks

Floating front disc, preload on the fork, an orange frame and black clamps — the chassis dressed for the extreme.

5 features
2027 KTM 300 EXC Hardenduro — Braking system

Floating front, solid rear

Braking system

A floating front disc for strong, consistent bite under load, a solid rear disc for durability — both behind disc guards — and a rear brake safety wire so a knocked lever does not end the ride.

2027 KTM 300 EXC Hardenduro — WP XACT closed-cartridge fork

Preload by hand

WP XACT closed-cartridge fork

The 48 mm WP XACT closed-cartridge fork with compression and rebound by hand — and on the Hardenduro, preload adjusters as well: softer for the slow climbs, firmer for the obstacle sections, set in a minute at the side of the track.

  • Ø 48 mm
  • 300 mmtravel
  • Preloadadjustable
2027 KTM 300 EXC Hardenduro — WP XPLOR PDS shock

Progressive, no linkage

WP XPLOR PDS shock

Progressive damping that keeps the rear wheel driving over rocks and roots, and keeps the ground clearance a linkage would take away. Low maintenance, consistent performance.

  • 310 mmtravel
2027 KTM 300 EXC Hardenduro — Race-optimised frame

Orange, on purpose

Race-optimised frame

The EXC frame built for longitudinal rigidity — feedback, stability at speed, confidence in the technical sections — in the orange that marks the Hardenduro.

2027 KTM 300 EXC Hardenduro — CNC triple clamps

Black clamps, axle puller

CNC triple clamps

Black-anodised CNC-machined triple clamps for front-end stiffness and precise alignment, with a front axle puller for fast wheel changes.

03.Brains under the seat

No fuses to carry, two maps on the bar — electronics made for places with no support truck.

2 features
2027 KTM 300 EXC Hardenduro — Offroad Control Unit

Lift the seat, read the lights

Offroad Control Unit

The OCU replaces fuses and relays with one integrated unit that manages every output and isolates a fault on its own. An LED per circuit — diagnosis in the middle of nowhere takes lifting the seat.

2027 KTM 300 EXC Hardenduro — Map-select & engine management

Two maps, one thumb

Map-select & engine management

A handlebar map-select switch to change power delivery on the move: one map for the technical climbs, one for the fast sections.

04.Hardenduro by sight

Graphics, grips, straps, seat and rubber: the contact points and the look that say which 300 this is.

4 features
2027 KTM 300 EXC Hardenduro — Hardenduro design

Purpose-built look

Hardenduro design

Distinctive Hardenduro graphics and premium finishes — black engine hangers, black clamps, orange frame. Built for the extreme, and it reads that way from across the paddock.

2027 KTM 300 EXC Hardenduro — Control package

Hold on

Control package

Pull straps, soft ODI grips, a hard-enduro bar pad and closed handguards. Less effort through the technical sections, and more bike left at the end of them.

2027 KTM 300 EXC Hardenduro — Wheels & Metzeler 6 Days Extreme

Factory wheels, extreme rubber

Wheels & Metzeler 6 Days Extreme

A high-strength factory wheel set with Metzeler 6 Days Extreme tyres: grip and durability over rocks, roots and loose ground, straight from the crate.

2027 KTM 300 EXC Hardenduro — Hardenduro seat

Ribbed, high-grip

Hardenduro seat

A ribbed factory seat with a high-grip surface keeps you planted when the bike points uphill.
