GASGAS
MC 85 19/16

2027 · The step up, in red.

The last stop before the full-size range: a power-valved 85 with two maps and a Formula hydraulic clutch, in a steel chassis with 43 mm WP XACT AER forks and a PDS shock on 19/16 wheels. 01.Style

Full-size looks at 85 scale: in-mould graphics, a gripper seat, an 871 mm seat height and a 5.4-litre tank.

5 features
2027 GASGAS MC 85 19/16 — Graphics

Built in, not stuck on

Graphics

Bold red graphics applied in-mould, so they are part of the plastic rather than a decal that lifts after a month of pressure-washing and boot scuffs. The bodywork carries GASGAS-specific textures, including a gripper seat cover for control seated or standing. It looks like the full-size bikes, and it keeps looking that way.

2027 GASGAS MC 85 19/16 — Bodywork

Scaled, not shrunk

Bodywork

Bodywork scaled from the full-size motocross bikes for the proportions of an 85 rider. A slim rear end and an 871 mm seat height make it easy to move around the bike, and the side panels sit tight against frame and subframe so the legs get real grip. Textures on the tank spoiler and seat add control where the knees and the backside touch.

2027 GASGAS MC 85 19/16 — Handlebars

Get a grip

Handlebars

Black-anodised aluminium bars, Ø 28/22 mm tapered, in a bend designed for younger riders rather than a cut-down adult bar — the shape helps a kid ride with confidence and proper technique. Black ODI grips as on the full-size bikes, and a crash pad on the crossbar.

2027 GASGAS MC 85 19/16 — Airbox

Breathe in deep

Airbox

Top-mounted ducts channel air efficiently into the engine while keeping the filter protected from roost. The Twin Air filter sits on a snap-lock mount and comes out without tools once the side panel is off — a filter check is a two-minute job, so it actually gets done.

2027 GASGAS MC 85 19/16 — Fuel tank

5.4 litres

Fuel tank

5.4 litres, integrated into the frame and bodywork so the bike stays slim where the knees are. A compact fuel cap, the same as on the full-size bikes, keeps it clean and quick to fill between motos. Enough for a long moto with no thought about running dry.

02.Frame and geometry

High-strength steel, a one-piece subframe, forged clamps and a flatter steering head — full-size thinking at 85 scale.

4 features
2027 GASGAS MC 85 19/16 — Frame

Electronic Red

Frame

High-strength steel frame inspired by the full-size motocross bikes: geometry that is stable in a straight line and sharp in the corners, with a flatter steering head angle and a wider turning radius for precise handling. The rear shock mount is designed to absorb big hits, and red frame protectors with a textured surface add grip and keep the glossy Electronic Red finish intact.

2027 GASGAS MC 85 19/16 — Subframe

One piece

Subframe

One-piece subframe in polyamide-glass-fibre-reinforced aluminium: less weight, more rigidity and better rider feedback than a bolted-together assembly. Its compact design helps centralise mass, which shows up as sharp handling and slim ergonomics at the back of the bike. One component, no joints to work loose.

2027 GASGAS MC 85 19/16 — Triple clamps

17 mm and sealed

Triple clamps

Forged triple clamps with the flex worked out so the front end stays smooth and controlled when the track gets rough. A sealed top nut keeps dirt and water out of the steering-head bearings, and its compact 17 mm size means the one wrench in the toolbox does the job.

2027 GASGAS MC 85 19/16 — Steering head

Flatter, wider

Steering head

A flatter steering head angle — 63.5° — and a wider turning radius are what make the 85 handle the way it does: stable at speed, and easy to carve through a corner without the front tucking. Sharper lines, smoother control, and a rider who trusts the front end enough to commit.

03.Suspension

43 mm WP XACT AER up front, a PDS shock at the back and a swingarm 300 g lighter.

3 features
2027 GASGAS MC 85 19/16 — WP XACT AER fork

Pumped up

WP XACT AER fork

43 mm WP XACT AER fork with 278 mm of travel, tuned to work with the rear shock so the bike is balanced through every corner and jump. Light, and set to rider weight and track with a pump rather than a spring change — the damping and comfort that let a young rider stay fast and focused.

  • Ø 43 mm
  • 278 mmtravel
2027 GASGAS MC 85 19/16 — WP XACT PDS shock

No linkage

WP XACT PDS shock

WP XACT rear shock, 289 mm of travel, mounted directly to the swingarm with Progressive Damping System (PDS) technology — no linkage to hook a rut or to service. Compact, with a shortened stroke that works with the geometry for better traction and a more planted feel, and fully adjustable so it can be set for the rider and set again when they get faster.

  • 289 mmtravel
2027 GASGAS MC 85 19/16 — Swingarm

300 g lighter

Swingarm

One-piece die-cast aluminium swingarm, with a refined casting process that takes 300 g out of it and a flatter angle that improves rider movement and control. A 20 mm rear axle and clear chain-adjustment marks make wheel set-up simple and solid; a tough chain guard and slider keep the chain running when the track is rough.

04.Motor

The 85 with the power valve, two maps and a Formula hydraulic clutch — punchy low down, proven up top.

8 features
2027 GASGAS MC 85 19/16 — Engine

Punch, then pull

Engine

84.9 cm³, 47 mm bore, 48.95 mm stroke, with a strong low- and mid-range punch and a proven top end — everything a young rider needs to push hard. The engine layout centralises mass for balance, a controlled exhaust valve and a six-speed gearbox keep the power flowing, and it is light and responsive. Built for getting on the gas.

  • 84.9cm³
  • 6-speed
  • 69 kgwithout fuel
2027 GASGAS MC 85 19/16 — Mapping

Two maps

Mapping

Two engine maps. The standard one works on almost every circuit; when the track is heavy or sandy, unplugging a connector under the fuel tank activates a richer map. A handlebar-mounted Map Select Switch is available as a Technical Accessory so the change becomes a button press on the bars — ask us to spec it with the bike.

2027 GASGAS MC 85 19/16 — Cylinder and piston

Power valve

Cylinder and piston

A cylinder with a power-valve system controlling both the main exhaust valve and the sub exhaust port. That is where the strong mid-range and torque come from — an 85 that is easier to ride, with less clutch work needed when the track gets deep and loose, and a rider who can carry a gear out of the corner instead of hunting for one.

2027 GASGAS MC 85 19/16 — Transmission

Learn to shift

Transmission

A manual six-speed built for durability and smooth shifting. A self-cleaning gear selector keeps working in mud, and the forged shift lever has a foldable tip and a no-dirt design, so it survives a crash and still finds the next gear on the last lap of a wet moto.

2027 GASGAS MC 85 19/16 — Crankshaft

Balanced

Crankshaft

Precisely balanced to cut vibration and improve engine feel through the bars and pegs. Its mounting position makes it straightforward to get at, so a crank service is less time in the garage — for parents and mechanics alike — and more time on the gas.

2027 GASGAS MC 85 19/16 — Crankcases

Thin walls, strong case

Crankcases

High-pressure die-cast crankcases with wall thickness kept to a minimum while keeping the strength and durability an 85 season demands. The compact design puts the internal shafts as close as possible to the bike's centre of gravity — the same casting logic as the full-size engines, and part of why the 85 handles the way it does.

2027 GASGAS MC 85 19/16 — Exhaust system

No seams inside

Exhaust system

A smooth-flowing expansion chamber with no internal weld seams, so the gas has nothing to trip over and the power comes cleanly across the rev range. Finished with a black-anodised silencer. On an 85 the pipe is half the engine, and this one is built like it matters.

2027 GASGAS MC 85 19/16 — Clutch

Consistent bite

Clutch

A diaphragm-spring clutch — a single diaphragm steel pressure plate instead of coil springs — worked by a light Formula hydraulic system that needs no adjustment and gives a consistent bite point every lap. Reliable and robust, so squeezing the last of the power out of the engine when the flag is in sight is easy, and a small hand gets the same lever every time.

05.Parts

Brakes that stay out of the way, Pankl radiators, black rims on 19/16 wheels and pegs that shed mud.

4 features
2027 GASGAS MC 85 19/16 — Brakes

240 up front

Brakes

Formula hydraulic brakes on a 240 mm front disc and a 220 mm rear — big for an 85, and the reason a rider can brake later into the turn. The rear master cylinder is tucked out of the way of the boot, the rear calliper bracket integrates with the chassis, and the rear brake lever has two adjustment positions for smaller riders. Sharp and consistent, lap after lap.

2027 GASGAS MC 85 19/16 — Radiators

Stay cool

Radiators

Compact Pankl radiators built for the heat of a race. Coolant runs through the crankcases to keep the engine at the right temperature, so a high-revving two-stroke makes the same power on the last lap as the first. A screw-on radiator cap makes the pre-ride coolant check a ten-second job — no tools.

2027 GASGAS MC 85 19/16 — Wheels and tyres

19 and 16

Wheels and tyres

Black-anodised rims against the red bodywork, built for durability. The rear hub is precision-machined to the chassis and carries bearing seals borrowed from the full-size bikes. 19-inch front, 16-inch rear — the big-wheel 85 for taller riders and faster tracks — wrapped in Maxxis MaxxCross MX-ST for dependable grip and stability across terrain.

2027 GASGAS MC 85 19/16 — Footpegs

Boot hold

Footpegs

Oversized footpegs for grip and control when standing, lighter despite the size thanks to a refined die-casting process. A no-dirt design stops mud packing, and the mounting position keeps them tucked in tight so they are less likely to catch in a deep rut or a scrub.
